Experience is Key!
When it comes to hiring a plumbing company (no matter if that’s for residential, commercial or new construction), experience is definitely a necessary attribute worth looking for! For one, this shows that they’ll know what they’re doing, provide professional services and also be aware of the proper plumbing codes. Unsurprisingly, these are certainly a MUST! Secondly, if you’ve ever worked on a construction project that includes multiple contractors, you’ll know that timing is everything and the ability to stay on schedule is needed. With a plumbing company that has years of experience tackling new construction projects, you can rest assured knowing they’ll be able to abide by the timeline and not hold back progress as the project continues on. And to add one more part to this equation, an experienced company should also be licensed, insured and bonded as well. After all, it would be quite difficult for a company to have years of experience with new construction projects and not have these items checked. In any case, it doesn’t hurt to get confirmation on this prior to hiring someone!
To sum it up, it should come as no surprise as to why experience would be the first section of this blog post. It will be intertwined throughout many of the remaining parts. Nonetheless, it can’t be understated how important it is to hire a plumbing company that has years of experience on new construction projects!
Reviews are Important!
In the section above, we talked about how experience is necessary for all plumbing companies, including those offering new construction services. Well…another quality that can be worth taking into consideration (for any type of plumbing services) is the presence of reviews. In the digital world that we live in, you can learn a lot about a company by checking out their reviews online. While this may be more beneficial when it comes to residential or commercial service, you may see some connections to the new construction side of things too.
How else could you determine whether or not a company has reliable new construction plumbing services? If it’s a company that you’ve never worked with, you could also inquire about the other general contractors that they’ve worked with on past new construction projects. Not to mention, it’s also worth asking about if they have any references that you can reach out to.
Troubleshooting Skills
While it would certainly be nice if everything worked out exactly according to plan every single time, that is not always the case. After all, every project can be unique in its own way and at the same time, you never know what might arise at some point in the future too. With that in mind, while this point does go right along with experience, it’s important to find a plumbing company that has a team capable of troubleshooting and resolving any hurdle that may pop up throughout a project. While each of the points above are a little more straightforward and easier to determine, troubleshooting in the plumbing world is usually something that simply comes with experience.
Reliability is Invaluable
Earlier in this blog post, we talked about why it is important to select an experienced plumbing company, with one of the reasons being the ability to stay on schedule. That brings us to our next point, which happens to be the importance of reliability. This can be broken up into a few potential scenarios. For one, when the plumbing company says they’re going to be on-site, you need them to be. As you can probably guess, if even a couple days are missed, it could serve as a serious delay to the project and set back other contractors from completing their parts of the project. Reliability can also be viewed in the form of the quality of work. In other words, you shouldn’t have to be concerned with whether or not the work is completed in a professional manner. All in all, you can’t ignore the importance of reliability.
Get a Few Bids
Unless you already have a go-to plumbing company or have a trusted recommendation, it would certainly be a good idea to do your due diligence prior to locking in someone for your new construction project. Considering plumbing is certainly an important component of any new construction effort, you’ll want to do your research and ensure you hire the right contractor! With that being said, in addition to each of the items above, you’ll also want to take into account the importance of getting a few bids as well. This can be important for a few different reasons. For one, it will give you some options to choose from and likely also help alleviate any potential concerns. After all, if someone’s price appears to be too good to be true, it probably is! However, by having multiple bids to review, you can see how it relates to the others. If they are all in the same general range, then you can simply pick the plumber you are most confident in. If someone is way lower than the rest though, that should probably raise some red flags! In any case, there is certainly value in getting a few bids for the various trades involved on a new construction project, especially for those larger in scale.
