When you start to list out all of the potential projects that you may need a plumber for, the number of jobs can be quite lengthy! Water heaters, drain cleaning, sump pumps, water softeners, water lines, sewer lines, the list goes on. This is a major reason why it can be so beneficial to find a local plumbing company that you can trust for ALL things plumbing. Would you agree that you don’t want to have to find a new plumber if the problem resides in a different part of the house or if it’s in regards to a different component in your plumbing system?
While it’s easy to list off items like toilets, faucets, showerheads and so on as things that you would need a plumber’s help to repair, did you know that gas line projects are yet another job that you can call a plumber for? Over the years, our team has tackled more than a few gas line projects and are confident in our ability to not only provide professional repairs/installations, but also ensure everything is done in a safe manner. It’s not hard to see how a gas line project could create some future trouble if not completed correctly, right? Throughout this week’s blog post, we’ll discuss a few potential gas line projects where you may need the expert services of a reliable plumber!
Before we get into all the different types of gas line installation and repair projects, we would first like to say hello to anyone that may be stopping by our plumbing blog for the first time. All in all, this will be helpful in limiting the number of plumbing issues that pop up and efficiently taking care of the problems you’re faced with!
Gas Line Installation Projects
As you can likely imagine, there are several places where you may need a functioning gas line. No surprises there! To kick off this week’s blog post, we’ll discuss a few of these instances. Some of the examples below may be primarily for residential purposes, while others can also be applied to the commercial world as well!
Water Heater – We’ve said it before plenty of times on past blog posts, but it goes without saying that the water heater is a plumbing component that you need to have working each and every day. While electric water heaters are quite common, you can safely say that gas-powered water heaters occupy a significant portion of the water heating world as well. How do you know if your water heater is electric or gas? An easy way to tell is by checking if there is an electrical line coming down and connected near the top of the heater, which would signal an electric water heater. How about gas-powered water heaters? For these, you’ll look for a flue pipe at the top, in addition to a gas line being connected with the control panel at the bottom of the heater. Nonetheless, if you have a gas-powered water heater and need either a replacement or repair, it’s definitely worth inquiring about whether the plumber has experience working with gas lines.
Outdoor Living Elements – Are you interested in expanding the functionality of your backyard? Whether that is done with the purpose of creating a space to relax, entertain guests or even watch the big game, there are plenty of possibilities. With that being said, plumbing can be involved with a number of different elements. Take an outdoor grill, firepit or fireplace, for example. Each of these provide the homeowner with a couple of options. For instance, with a firepit or fireplace, you can go with either a wood-burning or gas-powered one. If you go with the latter, you’ll need a gas line run, right? Were you aware that a plumber can complete this gas line installation? Our team has had the opportunity to tackle several projects like this and it’s always cool to see the finished product!
Other Uses Around the House – In regards to those items mentioned above, this is by no means a comprehensive list of every usage for gas lines in residential settings. Where else might you find gas lines used? Just as you could have a gas-powered fireplace outside by the patio, you can also have a gas-powered fireplace inside too. A couple of other interior gas-powered appliances include ovens and furnaces.
Safety First!
When it comes to any gas line installation or repair project, safety should always be emphasized. This is why we always encourage homeowners and commercial facility managers to make sure that the plumber they hire has the experience needed to complete a gas line project. It’s no surprise that a lackluster gas line installation or repair can turn into a major headache (and safety concern) in no time. So…as we wrap up this week’s blog post, one thing is for certain when discussing gas line projects and that is the importance of prioritizing safety! This is also why we never recommend taking on gas line projects as DIY jobs. While there are plumbing-related projects around the house that you can knock out over a weekend, this is not one of those examples!
Not to mention, just as we recommend for any plumbing-related project, it’s always worth doing your due diligence prior to hiring a contractor too. Check out their reviews online, make sure they have the necessary insurance/licenses and ultimately confirm that they are a reputable company. This will just ensure everything gets completed correctly the first time and doesn’t result in more headaches for you at the end! After all, plumbing problems are never the funnest of times and you don’t want to be addressing the same issue more than once!
