No matter if it’s on the residential or commercial side of things, a sewer line serves an important role. And much like any of the other plumbing components, it’s something that you’re going to want to keep in working order. Likewise, when something goes awry with your sewer line, you certainly won’t want to procrastinate on getting it fixed.
Being a plumbing business that provides both residential and commercial services, sewer lines are the perfect example of something we deal with just about every single day. On this page, we will highlight the sewer line repair and sewer line replacement projects. However, our work with sewer lines extends much deeper than that. For instance, before we would even get to the stage where excavation would commence, we always make sure to first run the inspection camera through to see what exactly we’re dealing with! Sewer Line Repair
Is your existing sewer line starting to experience some issues? Do you know what material it is built of? In any case, it’s important to note that no sewer line is built to last forever. While there are ways in which you can get the maximum number of years out of it, there is going to be the possibility for repairs at some point due to the daily wear and tear.
Sewer Line Replacement
Replacing a significant portion of your sewer line can be a decent-sized project. Anyone that has undergone a sewer line replacement would likely agree with that statement! Over the years, our team has completed quite a few sewer line replacements, both for residential homeowners and commercial facilities.
KANSAS CITY’S SEWER LINE EXPERTS
Given the usage levels of your sewer line, it doesn’t hurt to have some basic knowledge of this important plumbing component. Whether it be understanding the signs of a failing sewer line or even being aware of the pros and cons associated with different sewer line materials, this is one of many plumbing components that you need working on a daily basis.
Which type of material is best for sewer lines?
Did you know there have been a number of different materials used for sewer lines over the years? You’re likely fairly familiar with PVC, which is extremely common in the plumbing world. PVC is often the go-to choice for sewer lines. What other materials have previously been used on sewer lines? Cast iron has been around for quite some time and is something we still come across with existing sewer lines. Thanks to its incredible strength, it’s no surprise why it has been around for so long. Considering it can experience rust or corrosion over time, PVC has become the preferred choice. Clay tile is another material that was once a popular choice for sewer lines. Given that it is susceptible to tree root infiltration, there are potential issues with it too!
What tends to cause issues with sewer lines?
Have you ever experienced a sewer line issue? Unsurprisingly, as can be said about plenty of other plumbing components, there are a few things capable of causing the issues in the first place. Knowing what is capable of causing sewer lines issues can be very helpful in troubleshooting and then figuring out a solution for resolving the issue. With sewer lines, here are a few of the things that can cause problems for homeowners and facility managers:
Tree Roots: Especially in some of the older neighborhoods around Kansas City that have large trees, the tree roots can be a real problem for sewer lines. It only takes the slightest of openings for them to find their way in and after that, they’ll gradually grow, thus causing issues over time.
Age: Another common cause of sewer line issues is simply old age. They’re not going to last forever and given the wear and tear they experience, repairs or replacements will be a possibility at some point down the road. The one thing you can do though is follow proper maintenance practices and do your best to prevent clogs capable of causing increased pressure on the line itself.
Inadequate Repairs: If you ever have work done to your sewer lines, it’s always important to hire an experienced plumber for the job. Repairs that aren’t completed correctly the first time can easily lead to more headaches in the future.
Along with these items, there are several other things that can lead to sewer line troubles. Depending on the material used, corrosion or rust is a possibility. Severe clogs can result in back-ups that are difficult to clear. All in all, there are quite a few situations out there that are prone to causing sewer line issues!
