KANSAS CITY’S WATER HEATER EXPERTS
Having some general knowledge of your water heater can certainly be beneficial, especially in regards to the components that are used repeatedly each and every day. Here are a few of the most common questions we receive on water heaters.
How long do water heaters last?
With traditional storage tank water heaters, you can expect to get 10-12 years out of them. With tankless water heaters, you can easily get over 20 years. Keep in mind these are estimates and can be dependent on a number of factors, including whether or not they’re properly maintained.
Which maintenance task should I emphasize?
While just looking out for any noticeable issues is always worth it, one maintenance task worth adding to your yearly to-do list is an annual flush. With the presence of hard water, mineral sediment can build up and force your water heater to work harder to perform its day-to-day responsibilities, thus increasing the amount of wear and tear. By performing a water heater flush, you can alleviate some of these concerns!
Are there any water heater brands that stand out from the rest?
As we often say with any plumbing fixture, it’s always important to buy products made by reliable brands! After all, you want to make sure it not only looks good, but also is able to withstand the daily wear and tear. When it comes to storage tank water heaters, a few of the brands we recommend are A. O. Smith, Rheem, Bradford White, State and Ruud. In terms of tankless water heaters, we primarily install Navien units.
What are the advantages of having a tankless water heater installed?
Without a doubt, tankless water heaters are gradually growing in popularity. Given that they offer some unique advantages, this isn’t a big surprise! A few things that set tankless water heaters apart from the alternatives is their ability to occupy less space, operate in a more efficient manner, have a longer lifespan and essentially provide endless hot water (assuming they’re sized correctly for the building’s needs).
